Our basecamp is located in the Paznaun Valley, in the west of Tyrol in Austria. The valley offers four winter sports areas.
In the ski pass you can choose whether you only want to use the Ischgl / Samnaun region or the whole valley with See, Kappl and Galtür.
Ischgl is the most famous winter sports resort in Paznaun. Together with the Swiss Samnaun, the „Silvretta Arena“ it is one of the largest and most modern ski resorts in Tyrol. With 45 lifts it goes up to a snow-safe 2870m altitude. Nearly 240 km of slopes, a well-groomed fun park and a huge freeride area around the Piz Val Gronda make the Silvretta Arena the most versatile ski resorts in the Paznaun.
Relax. If you can … is Ischgl’s slogan and refers mainly to the apres-ski crazy audience for which the place is famous for. However, the Silvretta Arena also offers exceptional conditions for ambitious winter sports enthusiasts. The infrastructure is exceptionally good, and since most of the guests return from lunch on the numerous huts and then pass seamlessly into the Apres ski, we often find unspoiled slopes even days after the last snowfall.
From our basecamp we reach the valley station Ischgl in about 20 min.
The ski resort of Kappl is no longer a secret tip for freeriders. Every year, the „Open Faces“ freeride contest takes place with internationally famous ski and snowboarding professionals. From all the mountain stations, you can choose from various ski runs. With a little preparation and, of course, local guiding you can even go to St. Anton.
The ski area is also very popular for families with small children, as the ski kindergarten and family-friendliness are very valued there. Ski huts like the Bock-Alm are quieter and cheaper than in Ischgl. Every tuesday evening there is a party followed by sleding down into the valley.
From our basecamp we reach Kappl in 15 min.
The small family ski area of See can be reached in only 8 minutes by car. It is especially suitable for families, winter sports beginners or for a few hours of skiing and snowboarding. See is the ideal starting point for tours as well. Many of the surrounding peaks, as well as the nearest valleys, e.g. Serfaus can be reached from there.
Galtür is about 45 minutes from our basecamp in the other corner of the Paznaun Valley. Since it’s a bit far, we do not go to this area often. The area is considered very snow-safe and family-friendly. 43 km of slopes with good opportunities for freeriding.
For owners of the Tyrol Snowcard there is the possibility to use the Kaunertal (glacier) as well as Serfaus Fiss Ladis. Both areas are about 45 minutes from our basecamp.
Freeride Hotspot St. Anton can be reached in about 20 minutes. Here the snowcard is unfortunately not valid.
